15 Friendliest Countries revealed. Are they really that friendly?

Friendly People of Austria
Once again, the World's Friendliest Countries has been released for 2012.  While I quite agree with the results, am just not sure for the rankings that these countries got out of the 15. I have visited 10 of the countries listed and yes, most of them do deserve the honour. They are indeed friendly. I have not been to Cayman Islands, Spain, Bermuda, South Africa and Mexico, so I cannot talk about them in this blog.

In my opinion, the countries  who should get the Top 5 Friendliest spots are: (1) New Zealand (2) Canada (3) Australia (4) Malaysia  (5) United States.  The rankings I have here is based solely on my travel experiences to these countries; pleasing local people, polite, helpful, honest and welcoming.

Take notice of the countries that should also be listed here because of their very friendly people ~ Switzerland, the Philippines, Denmark, Austria, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Turkey and maybe more.

How about you? Do you agree with the countries listed?  Do you think your country should be one of them?

The following is a list of the 15 World's Friendliest Countries represented by their flags. If you do not agree, let's make our own rankings. Post your comments and let the world hear your opinion.  Let them know why your country and people should be included in the most friendliest.  Go ahead, give us your Top 5.

  1. I haven't been outside of Philippines but I do hope that somehow Philippines will be on this list too. I can't say Philippines is a perfect country.. even though how difficult the economy here is, the people are still friendly nice! :)

    1. I agree with you Maria. Filipinos are typically friendly people though at times it is misinterpreted. I know, because I live half of my life in the Philippines. Awesome locals and fun-loving. It's really more fun in the Philippines. Thanks for sharing your views.

  2. I am South African and have been in the tourism industry for many years. One of the comments always received is how friendly the people are so I must agree. I recently visited Malta Island and would definitely add them to the list.

    1. Malta is in my wish list for my future trip because I was told that it is uniquely beautiful, not to mention the friendly local people. It is very inspiring to have comments coming from seasoned traveller like you Cynthia. Thanks for your views.

  3. Well , You can consider India too

    1. Yes, you are right. I have heard a lot of good things about India ~ the scenery and the Taj Mahal in Agra. I definitely agree with you that it can and should be considered one of the friendliest due to its welcoming locals.
