Water Discus Hotel ~ Underwater Hotel in Dubai

Written by Trish

What comes to mind when you hear of Dubai?

DUBAI ~  United Arab Emirates
Lavish, daring, glamorous, over the top, flamboyant, luxury lifestyle, outrageous parties, and extravagant accommodations.  Dubai has claimed many superlatives to its kitty.

From world's tallest building Burj Khalifa to world's fastest elevators to world's highest outdoor observation deck to world's highest nightclub.

Now it is on the quest to build one of the world's most expensive underwater hotel named Water Discus Hotel. The source behind this ambitious project is Poland's Deep Ocean Technology.

Water Discus Hotels comprises two discs - an underwater and above-water one.

The discs can be moved, replaced, and multiplied to alter the hotel's condition and respond to the extremism of sea life. The two parts of the structure are connected by three solid legs and vertical shaft containing a lift and stairway. The elevator takes guests 32 feet below the surface of the ocean, where the 21 hotel rooms, dive centre and a bar are located.  Each room is integrated with the underwater world as closely as possible, offering a surprisingly direct, yet safe contact with the local flora and fauna.

All rooms are sound-proof and have curtains of different levels of transparency.

The disc and its adjacent satellites located 5-7 metres above the water surface comprise a restaurant, a spa and a special recreation area. A multifunctional lobby built inside an enormous swimming pool shows the centre of the disc. The area around the underwater part of the complex and diving activities may be watched as they happen on the screens hanging on the lobby walls.

So, all those waiting, get ready for another extravagance. Just don't open your windows!
